Position Announcement – MAPGA Safety Director
The Mid Atlantic Propane Gas Association (MAPGA) seeks qualified applicants to direct MAPGA’s compliance, safety and consumer education activities. Candidates should possess knowledge of the propane industry or the ability to learn this industry from the ground up, understanding of state and federal regulations including NFPA 54, NFPA 58, DOT and hazmat regulations, and familiarity with other areas of industry compliance.
The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree or relevant training, five years’ of related career experience, and be a self-starter with excellent teaching and communication skills who requires minimal supervision. This position will work closely with the National Propane Gas Association and MAPGA’s Safety Committee to coordinate and conduct required training for members, promote and develop the propane industry in Delaware and Maryland, and provide outreach to fire service personnel and other agencies associated with hazardous materials. The safety director will represent MAPGA before governmental agencies and assist MAPGA members and the public with compliance-related inquiries.
Flexibility with hours and ability to travel within Maryland and Delaware are required. Position may begin as part-time with the possibility of becoming full-time based on performance and need. MAPGA offers a competitive salary and benefits package.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Coordinate and conduct CETP training, and other industry-related training as deemed necessary.
- Provide outreach to fire service personnel and other agencies associated with hazardous materials.
- Represent MAPGA before governmental agencies on matters of safety and interest to the public.
- Assist MAPGA members and the public with compliance, safety, and outreach related questions and inquiries related to propane gas.
- Cooperate with the National Propane Gas Association and other agencies, associations, and companies, to extend its functions and purposes with MAPGA members in educational and outreach programs.
- Have knowledge of codes and regulations that govern all aspects of the LP - Gas industry.
- Prepare and work within budget guidelines with Easter staff and MAPGA, including use of the Partnership with States Funds to promote and develop the propane industry in Delaware and Maryland.
